UPDATE: The Plan will go to a Borough-wide public referendum in Milton Keynes on Thursday, 7 May 2015. Please note that this website was created for the plan preparation and consultation process, which is now complete. The final version of the CMK Alliance Business Neighbourhood Plan, which is going to referendum, can be found at the CMK Town Council website..
Welcome to the CMK Alliance Plan 2026 - a pioneering Business Neighbourhood Development Plan for Central Milton Keynes.
The development of the CMK Alliance Plan began in January 2012. Initially it took the form of a wiki, a form of website which enabled local residents to edit the developing early versions of the plan. It was then put out to Public Consultation, after which the revised 'Examination Draft' of the plan incorporating changes from the consultation was sent to Milton Keynes Council for independent examination. This took place in Autumn 2012.
After the examination process a final referendum version of the plan was produced including the changes proposed by the examiner to bring it in line with the 'basic conditions' for neighbourhood plans. This final version of the plan can be viewed on the Central Milton Keynes Town Council website. This will go to public referendum on election day, Thursday 7 May 2015.
The plan, as a 'business' neighbourhood plan for a mostly commercial area like CMK, must have two referendums; one for residents and one for businesses. The referendums will take place across the entire borough of Milton Keynes, although the plan itself only applies to the CMK and Campbell Park areas.
If the Plan passes the referendums in Milton Keynes, then it must be adopted by MK Council as planning policy for new development in CMK.
